(C-LS-RGBIC-D60-3M-5V) Getting Started: RGBIC Gel Protected LED Strip (3 Metres)

Overview

Setting up your RGBIC Gel Protected LED Strip is straightforward: connect the strip to your controller, power everything up, configure WLED, and you're ready to create stunning lighting effects.

Connection Flow

5V Power Supply → RGBIC Controller → LED Strip

What You'll Achieve

Once setup is complete, you'll have:

  • 180 individually controllable pixels – creating smooth, flowing colour effects
  • Wi‑Fi control – from your smartphone or computer
  • Voice control – via Alexa or Google Assistant (with compatible controllers)
  • Music sync capabilities – for reactive lighting
  • 100+ pre‑set effects – plus unlimited custom possibilities

The process is designed to be beginner-friendly, with most of the complexity handled automatically by modern WLED controllers.

About Your LED Strip

What You'll Need

Essential Components

  • RGBIC Controller – We recommend the Candeo WLED Controller, but other WLED-compatible models work too.
  • 5V Power Supply – Minimum 1.5A, 3A recommended (see Power Guide below).
  • Wi‑Fi Network – 2.4 GHz required; 5 GHz not supported by most controllers.

Tools & Materials

  • Small Phillips screwdriver (not required for Candeo WLED Controller).
  • Wire strippers (for custom connections).
  • Mounting clips or adhesive backing.
  • Smartphone or computer for setup.

Power Supply Guide for this LED strip

Minimum:

For 3 metres: 5V, min. 1.5A (7.5W)

Recommended (Suitable for 90% of use cases):

For 3 metres: 5V, 3A (15W) Plug‑in Adapter

  • For plug‑in adapters, cut the strip to ≤ 2 m – 3 A is sufficient
  • Supports full brightness for most colours and effects
  • Handles warm white and typical RGB combinations
  • Provides comfortable usage margin

Full Feature Power Supply Requirements

For 3 metres: 5V, 10A (50W) Dedicated Transformer

  • Required for full‑brightness pure white output across the entire 3 m strip
  • Maximum performance capability

Setting Up

  1. Connect the LED strip to the controller.
    1. The Candeo controller uses clearly labelled, easy‑clip terminals:
      1. Red wire (LED Strip)+5 V terminal
      2. White wire (LED Strip)DATA terminal
      3. Green wire (LED Strip)GND terminal
  2. Verify your power supply outputs 5 V and connect it.
  3. Set up your WLED controller by following these instructions.
  4. In WLED Config → LED Preferences, enter the following:
    1. Maximum PSU Current: match your PSU mA rating (e.g., 3000 for 3 A)
Warning Warning: Do not enter more than your PSU can handle
    2. Length: Enter 180
    3. Colour Mode: GRB
  5. Save
  6. Verify all LEDs function properly
  7. Test different colours and effects
  8. Confirm smooth operation before mounting
