We have released new firmware for the Candeo RD1 Rotary Dimmer (C-ZB-RD1) and Candeo RD1-Pro Rotary Dimmer (C-ZB-RD1P).

This update improves on/off dimming behaviour across both products and introduces a number of new smart-control capabilities for the RD1-Pro.

RD1 — What's new

Improved on/off transition behaviour

On and off transition times now scale proportionally according to the brightness level being used.

For example, if an On Transition Time of 1 second is configured:

• Turning on to 100% brightness takes approximately 1 second.
• Turning on to 50% brightness takes approximately 0.5 seconds.
• Turning on to 20% brightness takes approximately 0.2 seconds.

The same proportional behaviour is applied when turning the lights off.

This improves responsiveness when switching lights on at lower brightness levels and can be particularly beneficial with installations using multiple LED lamps.

The change applies to on/off operations only. Normal rotary dimming behaviour is unchanged.

Bug fixes

• Fixes incorrect state change reports if on/off transitions are interrupted.
• Fixes interruption of the brightness transition when turning on if the knob is inadvertently rotated while being pressed.

RD1-Pro — What's new

The RD1-Pro update includes the same improvements as the RD1, including proportional on/off transition behaviour and the bug fixes in DIM mode, together with several additional features.

New Extra Button Commands in DIM mode

The RD1-Pro can now provide additional button actions, similar to those available in REM and DPM modes, when controlling a wired lighting circuit in DIM mode. These actions can be used with compatible smart-home platforms and automations:

• Double press
• Hold
• Release

Extra Button Commands are disabled by default and can be enabled by a device setting in the UI in your smart system.

With the feature disabled, a normal single press operates the connected circuit immediately without any additional button-detection delay.

When Extra Button Commands are enabled, a delay of approximately 0.5 seconds is added to single-press operation, allowing the dimmer to distinguish between the different button actions.

The setting is remembered if power to the dimmer is switched off and restored.

Following a factory reset, Extra Button Commands return to their default disabled state.

Improved Remote Mode and Dual Purpose Mode binding

Direct device and group binding is now supported when using the RD1-Pro in Remote Mode (REM) or Dual Purpose Mode (DPM) through the newly added Zigbee Endpoint (3).

• On/Off Cluster: pressing the knob sends a Toggle Command.
• Level Control Cluster: rotating the knob sends Step Commands with Step Mode Up or Down, Step Size 20 and Transition Time 0.5 seconds.

When a compatible device or group is bound to the RD1-Pro:

• A single press toggles the bound light or device.
• Rotating the knob dims the bound light or device.
• Double press, hold and release actions do not directly operate the bound device.

This allows the additional button commands to remain available to your smart-home system for separate automations while the rotary control and single press continue to operate the bound lighting directly.

Notes

• Direct device binding is recommended when controlling a single device, as commands are sent sequentially to each directly bound device.
• Group binding is recommended when controlling multiple devices, as a single command is sent to the whole group. (The devices must first be added to a group.)

Important

Extra Button Commands and the new REM/DPM binding functionality are available on the RD1-Pro only.

The standard RD1 firmware update contains the improved proportional on/off transition behaviour but does not add the RD1-Pro's additional button or binding functionality.
