In a typical no-neutral lighting circuit, install the bypass across live and neutral on the lighting circuit, usually at the light fitting or before the first light fitting, following the official Candeo bypass wiring instructions.
Only if the required live and neutral for the bypass are present at the switch and the official diagram supports that arrangement. The dimmer itself does not take neutral. In many UK no-neutral switch drops the neutral is not present at the switch, so the bypass must be installed at the light fitting.
Usually yes for a UK no-neutral switch drop, because neutral is commonly available at the light fitting rather than at the switch. The bypass should be across L and N on the lighting circuit, not across live and switched live.
No. The switched live is not neutral and must not be used as a neutral substitute. A bypass needs the correct live and neutral points shown in the wiring instructions.
Install the bypass at the light fitting or another suitable point in the lighting circuit where both live and neutral are available. If you cannot safely identify those conductors, use a qualified electrician.
Yes. In Remote Mode with no conventional light load, the LED bypass can be used as the dummy load if wired according to the official no-load/Remote Mode diagram.
The most common reason is insufficient load, especially when smart bulbs are off and drawing very little current. Other causes include the RD1-Pro being in the wrong mode, the bypass being absent or incorrectly positioned, or smart bulbs being exposed to dimming instead of permanent power.
Confirm the bypass is wired across the correct live and neutral points, check bulb quantity and off-state load, test with a conventional dimmable bulb, and confirm the device is in Remote Mode. If all is correct but the circuit is still unstable, a second bypass in parallel may be required.
Yes, a second LED bypass can be wired in parallel in cases where one bypass does not fully stabilise a very low-load smart-bulb circuit.
Verify that it is across the correct L and N points on the lighting circuit, not across switched live and not into the RD1-Pro neutral because the dimmer has no neutral terminal. Use the official diagram and a qualified electrician if there is any uncertainty.
In Remote Mode the circuit remains powered, but a smart bulb that is logically off may draw only a tiny standby current. If the combined standby current is too low, the dimmer circuit may be unstable and the bulbs can flash or pulse.
