[RD1 Series] Energy Monitoring

Welcome to the Energy Monitoring reference guide. This section covers how the built-in power tracking features work, how accurate the data is, and how to view these readings in your smart home system.

1. Sensor Values & Accuracy

Does the RD1/RD1-Pro provide energy monitoring?

Yes. RD1 and RD1-Pro provide energy monitoring for the connected circuit where the platform exposes the sensors.

What energy data can I see?

The reported values are voltage, current, power usage, and total energy consumption.

Does it report voltage, current, power, and total energy usage?

Yes. The expected sensor values are voltage (V), current (A), power (W), and total energy usage (kWh).

Where do the energy sensors appear in my smart home system?

They appear as sensor entities or attributes in the Zigbee platform, depending on the hub and driver. Zigbee2MQTT and supported Home Assistant integrations should show them as separate sensor entities or exposed values.

How accurate are the energy sensor values?

The published accuracy is approximately +/- 4%.

2. Setup & Troubleshooting

Does energy monitoring work in all modes?

Energy monitoring is most meaningful for the wired dimmable-light circuit, especially DIM and the Endpoint 1 side of DPM. In REM/no-load or smart-bulb controller use, the reported values may be absent, limited, or not useful depending on wiring and platform.

Does energy monitoring work with smart bulbs in Remote Mode?

Do not rely on Remote Mode energy readings to represent individual smart-bulb usage. In Remote Mode the dimmer is acting as a controller and keeping the circuit powered; smart-bulb energy usage is better measured by the bulbs or another suitable metering device if supported.

What should I check if energy sensors are missing?

Check platform support, drivers/quirks, pairing mode, and whether the device was paired before the correct driver was installed. Remove/reset/re-pair after installing the correct driver if the sensors were not created.
